Donations Accepted!

Didn't go out today. And most probably won't be going out for the next few days cuz I'm super duper broke.

So I just stayed at home today, napping, watching tv, surfing net ad playing with my nephews. So there's nothing much to say here.

Most likely won't be going for the post-production observation at Mediacorp Ch 5 for the music video we helped. KY can't make it, and I don't want to go there alone and be a nuisance. At least if he's around, we can both be nuisances together.

But Remi is so nice and hospitable. I actually expressed my worries about disturbing him at work, but he said that our presence there wouldn't be a problem. But of course he would say that...who in the right mind would honestly say that we will be disturbing them...

Oh what the hell, I'm not going anyway...

Pfft!

I'm already missing Survivor so much. Have to wait for the next edition, Survivor 7: Pearl Islands for a few months now. They should be filming in Panama from June to July and then will only be airing around September or October. Aargh, can't wait.

Didn't do much today. Went for my Friday prayers in the afternoon, and then slacked the whole day away. No mood or money to go out! I'm super broke now.

Called Remi just now and he said that we can come down to watch the post-production on Sunday after lunch. Jason won't be able to make it, while KY will most likely give it a miss. But I don't want to go there alone. Shitlah! Looks like I have to see first! I wanna learn more stuff about post-production and editing, but I don't wanna be a goondo, just sitting down there. Plus I'm worried I'll be a bit of a nuisance for Remi since he has to finish this project soon.

Havn't switched on my icq for weeks now. So havn't communicated with anyone much...no mood lah!

Survivor: The Amazon finalists on the CBS Early ShowRob, Matthew, and winner, Jenna, Mark Burnett, presenting the US$1 million cheque to her and host Jeff Probst.

A solo picture of Jenna, I think she looks gorgeous!

Jenna/Matt at reunion, they look close and intimate, but I doubt they're dating.

Lo And Behold

It's Public Holiday, Vesak Day specifically, so it was a good day for me to rest, after the long day yesterday. Woke up late haha, and just slacked away.

Watched American Idol 2 just now. Kimberley Locke is out. Whatever it is, please do not adopt the nickname, K-Lo, that your fans have bestowed upon you. That kind of nickname is only reserved for the disgusting low-life slut, J-Lo or J-HO. I hate to see you go, would have preferred you to be in the Final 2 cuz I love your voice, but I think Ruben deserves his place in Final 2 too.

I can't wait for the finale next week. A showdown of performances between Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Of course by now, it's obvious I'm baised towards Clay Aiken. I'm rooting for you all the way man! And I hope the Americans vote him to be the American Idol. Who cares if his voice is too broadway? Havn't you guys heard him sing pop songs before? I always get blown away listening to his voice. Superb!

There might be a chance that Ruben might win this thing, but I really hope Clay end up victorious. I'll definitely buy his solo album when if he cuts one. Go CLAY! Maybe he's a geek/nerd and I'm one too, so I can relate to him,, better but still he's the most talented out of all of them for me.

And once again, whoever you are, don't you dare tell me the winner next week, before I watch the show on Ch 5! It sucks for my surprise to be ruined! Fuckers!

Shoot

Was awoken by my handphone alarm promptly this morning, but I refused to get my butt up, so I overslept slightly. Luckily by the time me and KY reached Peace Centre at 7.30am, Remi Sali wasn't there yet.

He was the Ch 5 on-air promotions producer that I was talking about a few days ago. Jason was punctual as usual, but Remi was stuck at his office, so he had to pick us up later. While waiting for him, me and Jason grabbed breakfast first at McDonald's.

The main star of the music video was of course Gurmit Singh as Phua Chu Kang who was at every location, but other stars appearing in the video include Andrea De Cruz, Pierre Png as Phua Chu Beng, Cynthia Koh, Terence Cao, Carrie Chong, Alan Tern, Nick Shen, Yvonne Lim, Mark Lee, the girl who played Kimberly in Light Years, the boy who played Aloysius in PCK Pte Ltd and the guy who played Ah Goon in the same show.

They had two camera crews and the locations involved for the shoot began at a childcare centre at Bedok, then Bedok View Sec Sch, S'pore Expo, the infamous S-11 hawker centre at Serangoon, Milieu club at Orchard and ending at a line-dancing studio at Lavender. The three of us were doing saikang jobs most of the time, doing extra stuff, but I was given the responsibility of maintaining the logsheet for one of the cameras. So I was attached to a cameraman the whole shoot and had to record every scene and timings that he filmed.

I think I'm more keen and active in the shoot than KY and Jason, cuz maybe they didn't really have any specific thing to be in-charge of. Plus they said they're not really keen on going into the tv line, whereas for me, I'm quite interested to be in this line, since I did major in Adv. TV Pro in poly, and I like the challenge of doing these kinds of projects with a team. It's just that I don't have much experience, lobang or exposure for this field. So I'm planning to gain as much experience as I can from this shoot.

The cameraman I was attached to was a former Mass Commie, while the freelance producers for the shoot were both from FSV. And if I'm not wrong, Remi was from Mass Comm. I did learn a lot from this shoot, especially from a music video perspective. And managed to brush up on setting up the camera equipments, even learned new equipments such as how to use the tracks for the camera, which we didn't learn back in Mass Comm. Gosh, I think 2 and half years in NS have made me forgot some basics already.

I didn't really care that they pushed us around to carry the equipments, or that they treated us like we really didn't know anything, I took everything in stride cuz I really wanna learn from this experience.

We finished shooting at 9 plus at night, and the three of us had to make way home by train. I had requested Remi to allow me to observe the post-production stage of the music video, and he agreed to let me come this weekend. We'll see what happens then...right now I'm so shacked!

What do I get out of this? Definitely experience, something I can put in my resume, and also we were promised letter and certificates of appreciation, some free movie tickets and also a VCD of the music video. Our names would also be in the credits apparently, for our efforts. I wished there was at least some money involved, but it's ok. Hoping that I get future lobangs like this in the future...

Wisegirls

Went to watch Wisegirls starring Mira Sorvino and Mariah Carey with my Mariah fan friends, Terence, Omar and Rohana. Watched the 5.30pm screening at Lido.

Overall, I think the show is quite good. Not that bad yet not that fantastic but good enough. Something like the female version of Goodfellas. I know I'm a fan of Mariah, but for you Mariah detractors, I think this movie really showed her improvement in acting. She really did quite well here, and played her character very convincingly as a tough-talking and cuss-word swearing waitress caught in the middle of a mafia business. Goodfellas meets Joy Luck Club in other words. As usual Mira Sorvino is marvellous.

During the initial scenes involving Mariah, it took a bit of getting used to her acting, but after that I thought she did quite well. Forget about Glitter, if you really wanna see her acting skills, Wisegirls is the movie for you. Gosh, that sounds like a shameless plug!

------------------------------

Wisegirls, independent movie starring Mira Sorvino, Mariah Carey and Melora Walters, playing at limited theatres.

--------------------------------

But I think I still prefer Mariah just singing. Noone is on par with her there, so she should just stick to singing...but if she wants to delve more in acting, I hope she has good roles in the future, doesn't matter if it's just a supporting role.

Omar and Rohana left after the show, but I accompanied Terence for his dinner at BK Wheelock Place, and then visited Borders for awhile before heading home.

Tuesdays are so boring now, no good shows on TV. Tomorrow I have to wake up earlier for the shoot...

Amazon Woman!

Today marks exactly five months since I've left NS, five months since my ORD. And also five months since I'm out of job. Sometimes I wish I'm still in NS, at least I don't need to worry about finding a job or no money. Hell, I was earning almost $800 for just being a 3rd Sergeant Admin Specialist. Sigh.

I kinda miss my BMT section mates. Still quite close to them and keep in touch with them. Feel very proud and glad to know all of them. Oh well, it's time to move on...

-----------------------------

This first personal photo of the week is dedicated to my BMT section mates. Back row, from left, Md Noor, Yeow Hoe and Keng Soon. Front row, from left, Eric, Kian Boon, me, Kevin, Farhan and Nazmi.

---------------------------

The section photo was taken at our platoon ORD barbeque last November at East Coast Park. Only nine of us (out of 12) from Section 2 came, the highest attendance from any section from our platoon. We rock! We might be the weakest section physically during BMT, but boy, we are the most "on", sporting, united and fun section. I'm so proud to be from that section. Some friendships I made with them would last my lifetime, I feel.

From the photo, three of us are furthering studies in different cities in Australia, three of us have started working, while three of us are still unemployed (me included). I regard my BMT era like Survivor: BMT Gryphon Section 2. And we're the FINAL 9!

Went to town with KY in the afternoon, specifically to Starbuck's at California Fitness, opposite Orchard Cineleisure.

Were there cuz we have both volunteered for a Mediacorp Ch 5 project that we got to know thru the fmslist yahoogroup. An on-air promotions producer from Ch 5 needs volunteers to help them with the filming, to assist the camera crew. But it's a voluntary thing, so we won't be paid, but we'll have benefits out of it. Both me and KY don't mind cuz we can at least keep ourselves occupied and gain some experience from this shoot.

It's a 4 min video starring Phua Chu Kang for SARS. It's more of an awareness kind of music video with him rapping, something like the music video that is airing on Ch 5 now, "In Your Eyes", which is dedicated to the healthcare workers. It's for a good cause, and it's gonna be a one-day shoot on Wednesday. B>Jason was also informed on this lobang, so we'll be involved in the shoot from 8am to 8pm...

After the short briefing, me and KY walked around Cineleisure, Heeren, Tangs, Far East Plaza and then Taka to help him search for a new home telephone.

But I reached home just in time for the tv show I've been waiting for all day. A couple of people kinda ruined the possible outcome for me (intentionally or not), so I was kinda frustrated a bit during the day and while watching.

It's official...Jenna Morasca is the Sole Survivor for Survivor 6: The Amazon. I have already known the Final 2 since midway thru the season, but I thought there might be a chance those spoilers could be debunked, but alas, they still came out true.

Am I satisfied that Jenna won? Not really. Do I think she deserved it? Not really too. Do my opinions matter? Haha, of course not. The winner is already determined by a bunch of pathetic jury members, that there's no point debating about their decisions. The ideal Final 2 for me would have been Matthew and Rob.

Matthew deserves to win this game cuz he was the underdog from the start, had no clue about the game, and had to learn and advance from scratch and he's a damn hard worker and cared for his tribemates. Just for his miraculous growth in the game he should have been rewarded. Unfortunately, his psycho acts did him in and he was deemed undeserving of being in the Final 2 by the jury.

Meanwhile Rob deserves to win the game, cuz he's a damn smart player, who is willing to take risks in terms of alliances, a hard worker, and knows the game in and out. If he had won, it would be a great ending to an already fantastic season. He is, to me, one of the best players on this show, maybe even the best ever.

But with Jenna winning it left a sour taste in my mouth. But what can I say, if the 6 people decided that she deserved the money more than Matt, then that clearly showed that she definitely did something to deserve it. I liked her mid-season, but she became such an annoying spoilt brat after that. Although I have to admit she did PLAY her way to the top from Day 1, she didn't work hard for the survival part. She never helped with the firewood, shelter or other domestic duties, just laying around doing nothing but scheme.

If the next Survivor 7: Pearl Islands has 16 new Jennas, it's gonna be a real sucksfest. Nobody will be working, everyone will be sitting on their asses, and whine and groan and cry when they have no food or shelter. Among all the previous Survivor winners, Jenna did the least in terms of hard work maintaining the campsite. Oh well, the theme of the game is Outwit, Outplay and Outlast, and not Outwork, so I guess she definitely succeed in outplaying and outlasting the rest! But it is a tragedy to have this kind of person winning in this show.

Jenna winning was already a surprise, the fact that she won by a landslide 6-1 victory is even more shocking. As for the jury, I think this is the suckiest, lousiest and most boring jury ever, worse than the Survivor: The Australian Outback jury. There was no bitching or drama or much gunnysacking from them. Nobody's speech or questions were like Susan Hawk, Tammy Leitner, Kelly Goldsmith and Helen Glover of all previous Survivors. Though Dave gave a smart question, the closest to a showdown was from Christy, who addressed Jenna about her "handicap" statements. Gosh, the rest really disappointed me.

Christy who said she will never let any of her evil stepsisters win the million dollars, eventually voted for Jenna. What crap! Jenna had treated her so terribly all this while, and she still rewarded her. I totally respect Butch for voting for Matthew. Alex is just a sore loser, who can't accept the fact that a psycho and an outcast has gone to the Final 2 with Jenna. He clearly yeared so much for that position. There's no use talking about Heidi, since she's so biased towards Jenna.

Christy still seems clueless about the game, and maybe she still want to be with the 'in' clique. Deena is just a feminist who would never let a man win. Rob is bitter that the disciple has beaten the master and still want to be favoured by the 'in' clique, while Dave, though his question is alright, there's still the matter of the balls. He has too big an ego to let someone like Matt win...this sucks!

Th reunion was alright, although I wish Jeff Probst had addressed some issues like Jenna's ill-treatment of Christy, and he should have asked every one of the jury members their reasons for their votes. But it's good to see them all again. Shawna looks so cute as usual. Jenna looks hot and yes, she looked very intimate with Matthew, that's why maybe Alex is a sore loser and jealous. Gosh, I can't stand him!

Though the ending wasn't really what I had hoped for, oh well, congrats to Jenna for being the Sole Survivor. At least, Butch didn't win. If he had, I might have sworn off this show forever!

Cheesy

Another Sunday passed by without me noticing. Well, that's cuz nothing much happened today.

Woke up very late. My oldest niece (just three months younger than me), came over for awhile to return my dad's viewcam. Was intending to vacuum my house, since she was around, decided to do it tomorrow instead.

Other than that, half the time I spent my time napping...so boring. Watched a few more Madonna weekend specials on MTV Asia. Gosh, she looked so dorky and over-the-top in the 1980s. So true, even Madonna, the Queen Of Image Reinvention had to fall victim to a decade of hideous make-up, cheesy synthesizer songs and terrible overdone hairdos. And to think I'm an 80s kid.

What am I talking about?! I'm proud of that decade, cuz I love retro and mambo music! It's just hilarious to watch the images of artists from that decade...

Nothing much else to update. I'm just waiting anxiously for Survivor: The Amazon's finale and reunion tomorrow. I'm avoiding the net tomorrow at all cost, before the show. Works fine for me cuz I'll be out the whole afternoon...just hope noone actually will ruin the surprise for me tomorrow. But if your mouth is itchy and you dare to blurt out the results, you better beware of my wrath!
